Mt Mansfield West - July 20, 2010

Guides: Ed and Dick

Hike: We drove to Underhill State Park (the valley road was closed so drove the Irish Settlement Road) on the West side of Mt. Mansfield. We hiked up the CCC road to the trail head. We hiked up the Halfway House Trail. We continued on the Canyon North trail to the Canyon Extension trail. I took four people up to the Subway short cut. Ed tool the rest of the group on to the Subway trail. We went on the Long Trail to the Chin for lunch. We then went down the Long Trail to the bus at RT 108.

Mount Mansfield West July 13 2008

Guides: Owen and Dick

Route: Drove to Underhill State park. Went up the CCC road to the trail head. Went up Sunset Ridge trail to the Cantilever side trail. Continued up to the Long Trail on the Mt. Mansfield ridge and on up the Long Trail to the Chin. They continued on the Long Trail to Taft lodge for lunch and on to Route 108 where we were picked up by Jay at 2:30.

Hike: We drove to Underhill State Park on the West side of Mt. Mansfield. We hiked up the CCC road to the trail head. We hiked up the Laura Cowles trail to the long trail. We ate lunch at the Chin. Ed took 3 back to the Profanity Trail. The rest of us went down the Long Trail to Taft lodge where we meet Ed’s group. We went down the Long Trail to the bus at RT 108.

Drove to Underhill State Park. Walked up the CCC road to the trail head. Owen took 7 people up the Sunset Ridge trail Ed took 5 people up the Laura Cowles trail and onto the Long Trail to the Chin. After lunch, they continued north on the Long Trail to Route 108 for pick up.

Hike: We drove to Underhill State Park on the West side of Mt. Mansfield. We hiked up the CCC road to the trail head. From there, Ed took 12 people and went up the Sunset Ridge Trail. I took 10 people and went up the Half Way House Trail to the Canyon North Trail to the Canyon Extension Trail. Three people took the shortcut to the top of the Subway trail and joined Ed's group at the Sunset Trail intersection. The rest of us finished the Canyon Extension trail and continued north on the Subway Trail. We went up the Long Trail to the Chin where we ate lunch. We took the Long Trail down to Route 108 for pick up.
