Mt Mansfield West - July 26, 2011

Hike: We drove to Underhill State Park on the West side of Mt. Mansfield. We hiked up the CCC road to the trail head. Ed took one group up the Sunset Ridge trail. I took the other group up the Halfway House Trail. We then took the Canyon North trail to the Canyon Extension trail and cut up to the Long Trail just before the Subway cutoff. We went on the Long Trail to the Chin and onto Taft Lodge for lunch. We met Ed's group at Taft Lodge. We then went down the Long Trail to the bus at RT 108.

Hike: We drove to Underhill State Park on the West side of Mt. Mansfield. We hiked up the CCC road to the trail head. We hiked up the Halfway House Trail. Ed took 2 up to the ridge and down Hazelton trail to meet Jay at the bottom of the Gondola. I took the others on the Canyon North trail to the Canyon Extension trail. I took the group up to the Long Tail just before the Subway where we ate lunch. We continued to the Chin and on down the Long Trail for pickup at Rt 108.

Hike: Drove to Underhill State Park on the West side of Mt. Mansfield. Hiked up the CCC road to the trail head. Hiked up the Sunset Ridge trail to the long trail. Went down the Long Trail to RT 108. The bus had broken down so they had to wait for Shawn to pick them up in the van.

Mount Mansfield West July 12 2011

Guides: Nancy and Dick

Route: Drove to Underhill State park. Went up the CCC road to the trail head. Went up Halfway House trail to the Canyon North trail. At the Canyon North Extension trail two people wanted to go up to the Long Trail on the ridge. I took them up. Nancy took the other seven on through the Canyon North Extension and onto the Subway trail. The big flat rock was VERY slippery! We met up at the junction of Sunset Ridge Trail and the Long Trail where we ate lunch. We continued up to the Long Trail to the to the Chin. We continued on the Long Trail to Route 108 where we were picked up by Jay at 4:15.
